What the Google Indexing API is for
A new page earns nothing until Google finds it. Here is what the Google Indexing API covers, and how every new page gets sent on release.
New pages that Google has not found yet
You publish a new page and nothing happens. It waits outside Google’s index until someone remembers to submit it by hand.
When nobody does, the page earns nothing. When several people do, the same address goes in again and again. Nobody checks whether it ever got indexed.
What we built, and where the Google Indexing API fits
A services business publishes new pages often. Each release now sends its new and changed addresses to Google. A record of what went out stops repeats.
The Google Indexing API is one route in. Google documents it for pages with job postings or livestream videos (Google Search Central, 2026). For every other page, a current sitemap and Search Console, Google’s free report on which pages are indexed, carry the rest.
A page that waits for a person waits for that person’s week. A release step sends it the day it ships.
How it runs day to day
Nobody submits anything.
Three jobs it does on its own
-
Sent on release
Each release sends its new and changed addresses to Google. A record of past sends stops repeats.
-
Coverage rechecked
A scheduled sweep checks which pages Google has indexed and sends the ones with no status again.
-
Crawl trend watched
A monitor flags when Google starts visiting the site less often.
Publishing often? Book a 30 minute call and we look at how your pages reach Google.
What changed for the business
New pages go to Google on release, with no manual submissions.
A change starts publishing itself within about 2 seconds, and its address goes to Google in the same release.
Do it yourself or have it built
You can do this by hand in Search Console. Submit your sitemap once, request indexing for your most important new pages and check the page indexing report every week.
When you publish too often for that, see our Google indexing automation. We quote one price after a 30 minute call about your setup.

One 30 minute call about your site and how often you publish. We tell you what the build takes and quote one price.
- What you get
- A written plan of what this build takes on your setup.
- How it is priced

Questions about the Google Indexing API
Can I use the Google Indexing API for normal pages?
Google documents it for job posting and livestream pages. For the rest of your site, a current sitemap and Search Console are the routes Google supports.
Does sending a page to Google mean it gets indexed?
No, sending a page asks Google to crawl it, and Google still decides what to index. Expect a few pages to need a second send.
Will sending pages too often hurt my site?
Repeat sends use up your daily quota and tell Google nothing new. A record of what went out keeps each address to one send per change.
Do we need a developer to set this up?
Not for the manual route in Search Console. A release step that sends and rechecks pages on its own needs a builder.
